The Future of Water in South Dakota

On November 9, 2023, Friends of the Big Sioux River held a community education event at Augustana University titled, The Future of Water in South Dakota. The program began with a presentation of FBSR’s 2023 Big Sioux River water quality testing data. Following this update, Jay Gilbertson of East Dakota Water Development District and Troy Larson of Lewis & Clark Regional Water System gave their keynote presentation titled, When Demand Exceeds Availability: Where Will the Extra Water Come From? This thought-provoking presentation centered around the use of current existing water resources, the growing demand for water across the state, and the importance of protecting this finite resource for the future. A short audience Q&A session followed the presentation.

A recording of this event is now available for viewing with closed captioning. Check it out HERE!
