Do you want to fly fish the lakes and streams of the Big Sioux River watershed?
Whether you’ve never picked up a rod before or are an advanced fly fisher, the Big Sioux Fly Fishing Club is for you! Join us to fish Eastern South Dakota waterways, tie flies, and discover all that our local rivers, lakes, and streams have to offer. The Big Sioux Fly Fishing Club is free to join and open to everyone! Throughout the year, you’ll meet o-fish-ally awesome people (like us), participate in meet-ups and group classes, and become part of the local fly fishing community. A few club offerings include:
Group fishing meet-ups
Beginner fly fishing classes
Fly tying and rod building classes
Water quality and habitat education classes

Absolutely! The Outdoor Campus will supply all of the gear needed to get you in the water and catching fish. Simply show up at a group meet-up in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or wet, and we'll get you set up with a rod and supplies.
Once you're ready to purchase your own gear, we'll provide recommendations on what to buy!

Meet your Big Sioux Fly Fishing Club hosts!
The Big Sioux Fly Fishing Club is a partnership between South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Outdoor Campus - Sioux Falls and Friends of the Big Sioux River.
The purpose of The Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls is to provide hands-on experiences in hunting, fishing, outdoor skills, and conservation science. Free educational classes for youth, adults and families are held throughout the year. Visitors can explore indoor exhibits, a butterfly garden, and an outdoor playscape, as well as enjoy over 2 miles of trails for walking and cross-country skiing.
Friends of the Big Sioux River is a water advocacy nonprofit on a mission to protect and restore the Big Sioux River and its watershed, improve the water quality, and educate our community to build a conservation ethic. Community involvement is critical to achieving our vision, and FBSR seeks win-win solutions through strong partnerships and coalitions with all parts of the community, government, and stakeholders.
